Jade and Kyle on their wedding day at Riverbank Estate, Swan Valley

Swan Valley · Western Australia

Riverbank Estate
wedding photographer

Long rows of vines, a low western sun, and a reception that ran well past dark. Riverbank Estate is one of the Swan Valley's most photogenic properties, and it rewards a team that knows where the light lands.

We photographed Jade & Kyle here across a full Swan Valley afternoon — portraits between the vines at golden hour, then straight through to the LOVE sign and the dance floor.

If you're planning a wedding at Riverbank Estate, the vine rows are the shot everyone wants, and they're best about an hour before sunset. We'll build your timeline around that so you're not rushing portraits between courses.

RiverBank Estate is a working winery and restaurant, not a function centre that happens to have vines. That is the useful part for a wedding day — the room you eat in and the vines you are photographed in are a two-minute walk apart, so the golden hour does not cost you your entree.

The vine rows are the shot, and they are directional. They read best with the sun low and behind them, which in the Swan Valley means roughly the last hour before sunset from late spring through summer, and mid-afternoon in the depth of winter. It is worth setting your ceremony time backwards from that rather than forwards from lunch.

Caversham is about twenty-five minutes from the Perth CBD, which quietly solves the guest problem — people can drive themselves, and nobody has to build a coach schedule around the speeches.

Getting married here?

We already know
the light

We've photographed at Riverbank Estate and we shoot across the Perth Hills, Swan Valley and the coast every season. That means we're not working out your venue on the day — we're working out your family.

Eight photographers on the team means your date is rarely a problem, and there's always someone ready if plans change.

He captured our moments perfectly and all we had to do was enjoy our day! Would highly recommend Jesse.

Good to know

Riverbank Estate
questions we get asked

What time should we take photos at RiverBank Estate?
The vine rows want a low sun behind them, so the hour before sunset is the one to protect. We will normally take you out for fifteen or twenty minutes at that point, wherever the reception has got to. It is a small interruption for the frames most couples end up hanging on a wall.
How many guests does RiverBank Estate hold?
The estate publishes around 110 for a seated reception and 150 for a cocktail-style one, with a marquee option at similar numbers. There is also a minimum guest count that changes between the quieter months and December — worth confirming directly with the venue when you enquire, because it affects your budget more than most line items.
Is there a wet-weather plan?
Yes. Alongside the outdoor lawn and vine ceremony spots there are indoor spaces and a marquee, so a wet Swan Valley afternoon changes where you stand rather than whether it happens. From our side, rain is mostly a lighting problem, and an overcast Swan Valley sky is genuinely kinder to faces than hard summer sun.
How far is RiverBank Estate from Perth?
It is in Caversham, about twenty-five minutes from the Perth CBD, which is close enough that guests can drive themselves and you are not paying for transport twice.
